Senior Data Modeler - Snowflake/Data Vault
Location: Preference for Minneapolis, but open to other US locations. Occasional need to travel to client offices across the US.
Employment Type: Open to W-2 Salary, W-2 Hourly, or C2C.
Compensation: $80/hr W-2 Hourly or $100/hr on C2C. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and overall qualifications.

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Architect/Modeler to support a large-scale data modernization engagement with a leading national health and benefits organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of data modernization projects within a complex, enterprise-scale environment, with Snowflake as the primary platform.
This is a senior, client-facing consulting position requiring a skilled, hands-on practitioner with deep experience in data modeling and modern data architecture. You will be expected to work directly with client stakeholders, lead technical workstreams, and deliver with minimal supervision.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as a data architect and data modeling lead on client projects, driving the successful execution of comprehensive data management strategies.
- Develop and lead data architecture strategies and roadmaps to align with client business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Design conceptual, logical and physical data models adhering to industry standards and to serve business requirements.
- Create dimensional models geared towards enterprise reporting and self-service business consumption.
- Works closely with data owners, stewards, and SMEs to understand business data and reporting requirements and terminology.
- Works closely with technical resources to understand architecture principles, data domains, and underlying data sources.
- Captures data mapping and transformation rules needed to move data from existing sources to future targets.
- Uses data profiling and/or additional research to understand source data to mitigate data quality concerns.
- Oversees implementation of data pipelines to migrate data as needed and validate/document success.
- Develop and enforce robust data standards, policies, best practices, and procedures to uphold data quality, integrity, and security.
- Lead the assessment, selection, and adoption of cutting-edge data management technologies to build scalable and efficient end-to-end solutions tailored to client needs.
- Design and implement high-performance solutions leveraging cloud platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Define and execute comprehensive data governance strategies, ensuring security, compliance, and data discoverability across the organization.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and enhancing team capabilities.
Experience and Skills
Experience
- 10+ years in data management, including 5+ years as a Data Architect delivering large-scale modernization projects.
- Proven experience leading complex Snowflake modernization engagements across diverse industries; Data Vault expertise highly preferred.
- Experience analyzing legacy data warehouse implementations (SAP HANA) and translating gaps into future-state Snowflake data models.
- Expert-level knowledge of SAP data including ECC, S/4 HANA, APO, and IBP.
- Functional data architecture experience across Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing domains.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on expertise across data architecture patterns: data warehouse, data mesh, data vault, and data lakehouse.
- Proficient in developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models and ERDs for both operational and analytical stores.
- Advanced SQL and Python skills for data ingestion, querying, extraction, and transformation
- Experience with Snowflake and Databricks; solid understanding of ELT/ETL, APIs, event-driven, and streaming patterns.
- Experienced with modeling tools: SQL DBM, Lucidchart, ER/Studio.
- Skilled in generating source-to-target mapping documents to support pipeline implementation.
- Experience implementing data governance frameworks and deploying data catalog solutions.
Soft Skills & Delivery
- Ability to translate complex, ambiguous business requirements into scalable data models.
- Strong client-facing communication skills with both technical and business audiences.
- Able to lead and mentor a team of data modelers and mapping analysts.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in fast-moving, consulting environments.
- Collaborative cross-functional partner to Data Analysts, BI, and Data Engineering teams.
