About the role

As a Payroll Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organization.

  • Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system.
  • Review the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions.
  • Prepare required tax filings and other reporting.
  • Coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider.
  • Respond to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting.
  • Ensure payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly.
  • Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing and systems (e.g. accounting and management information systems) to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Set up state accounts in collaboration with the payroll provider.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience as a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Specialist, or in similar roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software and management information systems.
  • Experience with Paycom.

  • Duration: 5-6 months contract (w2 or C2C).
  • Location: Open to remote. Preferred Minneapolis.
  • Timezone: must be able to work Central or Eastern time.
  • Requirements: must be authorized to work legally in the US without sponsorship, now or in the future.
